Futsal is a growing sport on the Maltese Islands. In the past years a lot of progress has been done, the domestic league has quickly taken shape having 4 divisions and over 70 teams, with the winner of the top division competing each year in the European Uefa Futsal Cup. The past 6 years have been fundamental to this sport in Malta. The Malta Football Association (MFA) introduced the Malta National Team of Futsal in 2006 and foreign coaches were brought to our Island to further improve the level of the game and broaden the talent of local players.
The idea to introduce a Futsal School in Malta has been based on the fundamentals of the game of football. We, at the Malta Futsal School believe that children can develop the overall fundamentals of football more effectively. It has been proven that youth players develop quicker reflexes, faster thinking and pinpoint passing.
Malta Futsal School opened it’s doors in September 2010.
Training sessions are being held twice a week and are conducted by specialised coaches who form or formed part of the Malta Futsal National Team under the guidance of Mr. Jonathan Pisani and JeanBert Gatt, founders of the school.
From season 2012/13 De La Salle will be the venue for children aged between 10 and 15 years with sessions being held every Thursday between October and June
As of October 2012, the school will also hold sessions every Thursday at The Immaculate Conception School, Tarxien. This session will be specifically for kids aged 6 to 9 years.
